Hey guys this week marks the end of the transfer! I've already been in Pittsburgh for a transfer! But thanks for your emails and here's my week! I was pretty busy this week so I didn't have time to write at the end of each day so they might lack detail but mas o menos here is what happened hahaha.
Monday- Monday was good, we just went shopping and then went to the church to play basketball and watch a movie. The senior couple in our Zone came and hooked up their computer in the institute room so we watched Ephraim's Rescue and Freetown. There's only like 5 movies we are allowed to watch and those are 2 of them but they were both pretty good! After that we went to dinner at the Reyes house and it was delicious as usual then we went to ESL class.
Tuesday- On Tuesday we had interviews and District Meeting with President Johnson and it went super well! It's always good to talk to him. After that we had a lesson scheduled with a less active named Pete but he wasn't home and so we ended up just talking to his mom who's not a member and we showed her the Prince of Peace video and she really really liked it and said that we could come back and show her more! After that we went to our lesson with Dorothy and it was good, she's doing better with cigarettes already! ❌ Then we went to our lesson with Janet and then we went to dinner at a members house named the Maxwells. They just had a bunch of food from Costco and I loved it because Costco food reminds me of being at home so Costco rolls and muffins and pastries etc. have all become my favorite lol.
Wednesday- On Wednesday we tried some people in the morning and then we went to Days for Girls for service. After that we had a lesson with Manuel and a couple other guys that were in his house and it went well. We technically picked up 2 new investigators from that visit but I don't know how interested they really are ha. After that we went to Wilburs house and taught him how he needs to be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost afterwards and we used an example from Acts 19 but he didn't understand it and still thinks that he doesn't need to be "rebaptized." So we are going bring a Hispanic team up with us next time to throw down and explain to him that he needs to be baptized the right way.
Thursday- On Thursday we went to see a less active in the morning named Soel and he was home! He was a super cool guy and we showed him Prince of Peace and he really liked it and told us to come back and talk to him next week! We didn't have a ton of time with him because his Uber was coming to pick him up but it was a good little visit and I got to meet him. That afternoon we did our weekly planning and then we went to a lesson with a part member family that we have been trying to see for weeks! I finally got ahold of them the other day on the phone and we set up an appointment to go by and it went really well! We met the whole family and the mom is the only one who is a member but her kids are interested in learning more so we are going to go back and teach them and hopefully in doing so we will get the mom back to church Then that night we had dinner at our Ward Mission Leaders house and it was sooo good him and his wife made us these fish tacos with some red sauce idk but it was amazing.
Friday- On Friday we had service all morning at Raymond's house (recent convert). It's the guy who is getting ready for his mom to come from Peru so we painted his house and tore out all the carpets and everything. I'm gonna be such a handyman when I get home, maybe Jon Graf will hire me lol. After that we went out to Lunch with him and then we went home and got ready and went straight over to our lesson with Jorge. We taught him about keeping the sabbath day holy and then we asked him to say the closing prayer and he said an amazing prayer and asked about Joseph Smith and the church and everything in it, it was cool. After our lesson, we had ESL class there at the church, but Jorge wanted to stick around because there was an inspirational speaker talking to all the institute students. He's trying to work on his English comprehension so this was good practice for him so Elder Condie and Elder Halls went to teach ESL and I got to hang out and listen to the inspirational speaker with Jorge
Saturday- Saturday was as successful as it gets!! We went and played basketball in the morning and then we went to our Ward Mission Coordination meeting. After that we went on splits, so Elder Condie went with Brother Dushku(Ward mission leader) to teach our investigator named Dorothy and Elder Halls and I went to contact a Spanish referral that we got from some sisters in North Pitt. The sisters didn't know the exact address so we were just kinda guessing but we asked some people in the neighborhood and they told us the general direction of some hispanics that they had seen and then we found the gold mine!! We found this house with 10 hispanics who arrived in the United States on Thursday!!! They are all on work visas here for the next 8-10 months. They let us right in and we became friends instantly, they were super impressed with our Spanish for living in Pittsburgh and they were just pumped to make some friends here in the U.S. We told them that we would help them learn English and teach them about God and Jesus Christ and they were so excited and told us to come back any time we wanted!! We talked to 3 guys in particular but there are 10 living in the house 🤙 The plan is to teach them, baptize them, send them home to their families once their visas run out and then they can share the gospel with their families!! Keep the Hispanic Gold Mine House in your prayers! There's a lot of potential there and we are excited about it After that we met back up with Elder Condie and then we went to a lesson with a guy named Edgar. We had a good short lesson with him and he invited us back to share more about our message. Then we went on lightening visits to 3 different less actives houses to invite them to a fireside that we were having the next day. Then we went to Dinner at the Cárdenas house and it was delicious. We gave Sister Cárdenas a blessing for her health after dinner and she said that she felt like warmth going through her body right after the blessing, it was cool! Then that night we got transfer boards from President but nothing changed for us, the Trio stays Probably because we get work done here haha President wouldn't dare split us up, we got 8 new investigators this week!! Sunday- On Sunday we just woke up and had studies and then we went to church and then afterwards we had a "Break the Fast" with the Spanish branch Then we had the fireside pretty much right after church. The fireside was called "Why I Believe" and it was beautiful! It was only videos, musical numbers and 3 testimonies. There wasn't even anybody conducting haha but the spirit was so strong there! Well that was my week! This week was successful! Thanks for your emails, I'll respond to them through the day. I love and miss you guys so much Happy Easter!!
